The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday night announced that Pakistan ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has departed for London the place he will complete his rehabilitation.

PCB Chief Medical Officer, Dr Najeebullah Soomro said, “Shaheen Shah Afridi requires uninterrupted, committed knee specialist care and London presents some of the nice sports activities medical and rehabilitation services in the world. In the fantastic interest of the player, we have determined to send him there.”

“The medical department will acquire each day remarks on his progress while in London and we are confident Shaheen will return to full health earlier than the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” he added.

Whilst in London, Shaheen will continue to be under the supervision of the PCB Medical Advisory Panel, which additionally contains London-based Dr Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr Zafar Iqbal. Since 2016, Dr Imtiaz has been the Head of Medical Services at the Queens Park Rangers Football Club, while Dr Zafar is Head of Sports Medicine at the Crystal Palace Football Club given that 2015 (having worked earlier with Tottenham Hotspur FC, Liverpool FC and Kent County Cricket Club).

Shaheen suffered a PCL injury in July at the same time as fielding for the duration of the first Test against Sri Lanka. He is predicted to regain entire health earlier than the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, even though his return to aggressive cricket will be determined upon by means of the PCB Medical Advisory Panel.
