Following a heated standoff between Islamabad and Rawalpindi polices over the custody of Shahbaz Gill, the Adiala prison authorities surpassed over the custody of the PTI leader to the former,
Islamabad Police has left the prison with Gill as Punjab Police personnel returned back after hours-long drama backyard the prison premises. It was once similarly learnt that Gill will be first taken to PIMS for a medical checkup.
Gill’s custody has been given to Islamabad Police in accordance to the instructions of the court. Sources in the police stated that he will be shifted to a police station after the medical examination.
Earlier, sources, citing a record titled ‘Emergency Shifting’ handy with Newsbeat, stated that after Gill’s checkup the medical doctors of the Adiala prison and the authorities concerned were directed to shift the PTI leader to DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi.
Following the directions, Islamabad Police and Rawalpindi Police had reached the Adiala prison to shift Gill; however, he refused to go with the former. This led to hours-long drama between the two law enforcement agencies.
The Rawalpindi Police used to be adamant about transferring Gill to DHQ Hospital while Islamabad Police insisted on transferring the PTI leader to the federal capital as per court orders. Following the argument, extra personnel of Islamabad Police have been known as to the jail.
According to sources in jail, it was once learnt that Gill had complained of problem in respiration and unwell fitness due to alleged torture after which he was once shifted to the prison hospital for a checkup.
Meanwhile, the sources had stated that PTI Chairperson Imran Khan had ordered Gill to create an emergency-like situation so that he may want to be transferred to the hospital.
Jail officers stated that prisoners of Adiala prison bear checkups in DHQ Hospital as the medical team from Islamabad can’t check prisoners of Adiala jail.
Meanwhile, after reports of the worsening situation, the Ministry of Interior had also summoned Rangers and FC to execute the court orders.
